One of this summer’s most popular celebrations of Washington wines, the 35th Annual Winemaker Picnic & Barrel Auction, is happening at Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville on August 12th. This is the Auction of Washington Wines (AWW) largest wine and culinary event!
The open air celebration will feature winemakers who will “roam and pour” tastes, and offer more than 100 wines at the tasting bars. Participating wineries include L’Ecole N° 41, Cairdeas Winery, Patterson Cellars, Fidélitas, and many more. Attendees will enjoy global BBQ, featuring Korean, Indian, and southern style dishes, as well as sweet bites. There is an incredible restaurant lineup for the event, including Communion, Jack’s BBQ, Rasai, Ray’s Boathouse, Meet Korean BBQ, Fogrose, and John Howie Steak.
Meet, mingle, and enjoy a summer evening of Washington wine with games of chance and the opportunity to bid on cases of wine from 30 Washington Wineries in the Barrel Auction—all benefiting the industry and community.
Since its inception in 1988, AWW has raised nearly $55 million to benefit Seattle Children’s and Washington State University Viticulture & Enology Research. The success stories of beneficiaries are inspiring to say the least, like nine-year-old cancer survivor Tiago of Toppenish, who is the ambassador patient of the year. Here is his story and video, sharing the life-saving research, care, and innovation taking place in the PNW.
The event will run from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Capacity is 1,200. Tickets are on sale now at auctionofwawines.org.
